Kerry UnderwoodSenior Partner and Solicitor
Kerry is an acknowledged expert on funding and the legal system generally. He is a former Judge, current author, lecturer, broadcaster and a former Councillor and Parliamentary Candidate.
Kerry has extensive experience in virtually all types of litigation and has appeared as an advocate in many high profile and reported cases.
Kerry has entries in the Dictionary of International Biography, Debrett’s People of Today and American Biography Institute – Great Minds of the 21st Century. Kerry is a Regional Committee Member of the Lord’s Taverners Charity for disadvantaged children and is Knight Commander of the Order of St John (for charity work).
Kerry travels extensively and home is his beloved adopted town of Hemel Hempstead. In his spare time Kerry enjoys watching cricket and football and can be found during the football season cheering on QPR and Hemel Hempstead Town FC. Underwoods Solicitors is a Hemel Hempstead Business Ambassador. He also enjoys gardening and reading. Kerry still plays cricket and is Chairman of his village club Bovingdon Cricket Club. Nelson Mandela, TS Eliot and Elvis are amongst his heroes.
Robert MalesManaging Partner and Solicitor
Robert has over 25 years’ experience in a wide range of litigation matters including personal injury, clinical negligence and building and contract disputes. He also has considerable experience on advising companies both small and large on a range of business issues.
Robert is a contributor to Butterworths Personal Injury Law service and other legal journals. Robert is a proud member of the Lord’s Taverners Charity for disadvantaged children.
In his spare time Robert can be found umpiring hockey games or aiming for a hole in one on the golf course.
Anna is a solicitor dealing with a wide range of civil and commercial disputes including landlord and tenant disputes, contractual disputes and property disputes. Anna deals with family law matters involving divorce, finances and children. She has represented children and parents in care proceedings, child abduction and disputes regarding arrangements for children. She has also dealt with a significant number of emergency injunctions.
Anna also deals with employment disputes, advising individuals on Settlement Agreement proposals and potential employment claims. Anna is able to advise on non- contentious matters including Wills and Probate.
Anna has appeared in both the County Court before District and Circuit Judges and enjoys conducting her own advocacy.
Anna is a Governor of The Collett School in Hemel Hempstead for children with special needs.
In her spare time Anna enjoys socialising with friends and family and loves to cook Greek cuisine! She is also a great lover of animals and in particular has a soft spot for dogs.
Claire LongAdvertising and Marketing Manager
Claire is responsible for all marketing and business development activities within the firm including direct marketing, digital marketing, advertising, seminar and event planning, sponsorship and PR.
Claire has over ten years’ marketing experience within the professional services industry.
With a height of only 4ft 10.5in Claire is smaller than petite Australian singer Kylie Minogue.
In her spare time Claire enjoys regular trips to the theatre, walking, pampering herself and spending quality family time with her husband and daughter.
Doné PretoriusOffice Manager at South African Office
Doné manages the typing team in South Africa, who deal with all dictation and other recordkeeping and admin responsibilities.
Doné primarily assists Kerry Underwood with his dictation, updating of his blog and assisting with the publishing and typing of his books and articles. She also deals with all things relating to the running of the South African office
Doné Barnard attends the Temporary Safe Care for Babies agency of NORSA, a Non-Profit Organisation and Designated Child Protection Organization, on a regular basis. She donates baby clothes and products and in her spare time spends time with the new born babies who have been put up for adoption before they find a new loving family.
Doné is extremely passionate about health and fitness and is part of a fitness class in Wellington doing Piloxing and Zumba – she has been a dancer since the age of three and is determined to stay one. She is also a member of the Parkrun Community and runs the 5km with the team every Saturday.
Doné is a mother of two boys, Diaan and Blake – together with her husband she feels the four of them are a happy and positive team of chaos and love.
Jamiel ZamanTrainee Solicitor
Jamiel is training to become a Solicitor. After completing his LLB and LPC Jamiel secured the positon of Trainee Solicitor at Underwoods Solicitors.
Jamiel is involved within all the areas of law that Underwoods deal with and works alongside the Partners and Solicitors on their caseloads as well as carrying out various administrative tasks.
Jamiel enjoys his time off work socialising with his friends and family. He also has a keen interest in sports especially football and cheering on Manchester United.
Maninder MannTrainee Solicitor
Maninder is the newest team member at Underwoods and is training to become a solicitor
In his spare time, Maninder enjoys watching rugby and football and is a keen supporter of Manchester United. He also enjoys playing his Indian instruments whenever the chance arises.
Cynthia is responsible for answering and dealing with incoming telephone and email queries and welcoming clients into the office, opening of client files, closing files, scanning and destroying, and supporting the Solicitors and Partners with any administration work that needs doing.
In her spare time Cynthia enjoys running, playing tennis and going swimming as well as walking her dog Charlie. She also enjoys regular trips to the cinema and spending time with her family and friends
Tracy OntongLegal Secretary
Tracy Ontong, born in Paarl the heart of the Boland Cape, is a Legal Secretary and is based at the South African office.
She also assists with some of the administrative duties in the office such as recordkeeping of Underwoods Solicitors’ dictation.
In her spare time she enjoys listening to music, reading and being close to the beach. She has a son and absolutely loves spending time with him.
Brandon AbrahamsLegal Secretary
Brandon works for Underwoods Solicitors as a Legal Secretary and is based in the South Africa office.
Brandon is the eldest of five children and finished high school in 2011 at Paarl Boys’ High. He studied Information Technology and enjoys working on computers and helps around the office with any computer related issues.
His hobbies are watching movies, reading and joining Doné in running the parkrun every Saturday. Brandon is quirky and likes to make others around him feel comfortable with his corny and yet sometimes funny jokes.
JP La GrangeLegal Secretary
JP La Grange works as a Legal Secretary, contributing to the typing of legal documents etc.
JP enjoys writing articles, some of which have appeared in school newspapers. He is also a brilliant artist and enjoys drawing and has done illustrations for books and other forms of media.
He also loves music and in his spare time plays the guitar. He is a quiet person and so a fitting saying that describes him would be “Still waters run deep”.
Jordan ParkesUnderwoods Solicitors Ambassador
Jordan is an Underwoods Solicitors Ambassador and Captain of Hemel Hempstead Town Football Club.
Jordan runs and owns JP Pro Football, which provides a wide range of football coaching sessions and courses for all abilities and a variety of ages.
